 LIFE OF POOL CARTRIDGE FILTERS
 Is It Time To Change Your Filters?

Clean & Clear Cartridge Filters have a life expectancy of 3-5 years. If you have not replaced your cartridges now may be the time.

Cartridge filters' proven design uses special filter elements to strip particles from pool water with great effectiveness. The efficiency of the filters breaks down over time, but you can make good use of old filters.

We suggest using the old filters to clean the pool when it is opened. After the pool is clean you can install a new set of filters to use for the duration of the summer.

 2010 POOL OPENINGS
 Simple Reminders

Remember these easy steps for an smooth pool opening.

  • Your pool is open and circulating. Please allow the filtration system to run approximately three (3) days before testing your water.
  • On day three (3) place the filtration system in "Auto Mode" and run on the schedule programmed. NOTE: Integrity Pools & Spas typically sets the filtration system on "Service Mode" at the time of your opening to allow for 24-hour continuous filtration. Remotes will not work in this mode.
  • After your pool has circulated for three (3) days bring a water sample in our store to have professionally tested. There is no charge to test your water.
  • Pools operating on a salt water system must wait to have their water tested until the temperature reaches 59 degrees. Chlorine tablets may have to be utilized initially after opening the pool.
  • Pool cleaners tend to be less effective in cold water. Integrity Pools & Spas recommends laying the cleaner hose out in a straight line on a sunny day. This will help eliminate hose "memory" and make for a smoother running pool cleaner.

 


 KATE'S KITCHEN
 Warm Spinach Salad

Warm Spinach Salad 3 T extra-virgin olive oil
4 slices thick-cut bacon or pancetta, chopped
3 shallots, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
3 T sherry vinegar
2 lbs spinach, stems removed
Salt & fresh black pepper
Freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
4 hard-boiled eggs, quartered lengthwise
Parmigiano-Reggiano, for topping

Directions
Heat the olive oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add bacon to skillet and brown, reserve the crispy bacon bits and add the shallots and garlic to the pan. Cook 3 to 4 minutes then deglaze the pan with vinegar, turn spinach into pan and wilt down a bit but do not fully cook the spinach, just give it a few turns with tongs. Season the greens with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Place spinach on a serving dish and top with quartered eggs, shavings of cheese and reserved bacon bits.

THE LAST WORD

As you can imagine we are busy with construction in the field since our new store construction is complete! The warm weather has sparked interested in pool openings.
